A fountain with over 3,600 water jets and more than 4,700 lights “dancing” in the rhythm of the music. This is the Magic Fountain of Montjuic, located at the head of Avenida Maria Cristina in the Montjuïc neighborhood of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The fountain is situated below the Palau Nacional on the Montjuïc hill and near the Plaça d’Espanya.
In the evening, the show is so beautiful and the whole area of Plaza de Spagna and the National Palace is the scene of impressive games of water, light and color: on one side and another of the boulevard Reina Maria Cristina and between the Magic Fountain and National Palace are interspersed, in the stairs area, more waterfalls. The colors, shapes, jets dancing on famous songs people dancing, singing, and the Full Moon watching over the Castle, is the perfect scene of a romantic evening!
Montjuic Fountain began functioning in May 19, 1929, during the Great Universal Exhibition and continues to delight Barcelona’s visitors and even today, bringing joy and color in the souls of visitors and residents of Barcelona. More than 3000 people worked on the project, the construction being completed in less than a year. The Magic Fountain is elliptical, measures 65 meters long by 59 wide, and in total, may contain more than 3 million litters of water.
