Belize: contrast, history and beauty…

With many exciting secrets and incredible scenery, Belize is a wonderful country, quiet & colorful, situated on the beautiful coast of Central America, framed in the Caribbean Sea, Guatemala, and Mexico.

Here everything is superlative, with a rich history and a culture filled with Mayan influences, Belize shapes its story through the Great Barrier Reef, being one of the most beautiful in the world, composed of 200 separate islands, (it’s the second largest barrier reef in the world after the Great Barrier Reef off the Australian coast), ancient temples, (among the most visited archaeological sites are Altun Ha or Lamanai) & Caracol is the largest archaeological site in Belize and one of the largest Maya structures, intact tropical forests and the turquoise sea overwhelmingly attractive…

The capital of Belize is Belmopan, located at an altitude of 76 m above sea level, on the eastern bank of the Belize River, although Belize is still the country’s main port and largest city, divided into two regions: the north, between Haulover Bay and the east of Fort George, and the Southern region, which lies in the suburbs and in the harbor. The Belize divisions are joined by three bridges: Swing Bridge, Belchina Bascule and Belcan Bridge.

In Belize City you can visit Albert Park, Belize Maritime Museum & Maritime Terminal, the Island Birds, Commercial Center, Hindu Temple, House of Culture, Cathedral St. John or the Yarbrough Cemetery. Try a visit to the One Barrel rum factory and witness British colonial architecture.

Being the home of over 900 historical sites, Belize is one of the richest Mayan locations, and that makes it extremely culturally attractive. Do not be surprised because once you’re here, you’ll find that they speak English. Belize is the only country in Central America where the official language is not Spanish, instead is English, which makes communication easier.

Ambergris Caye is the most important tourist destination in Belize. Here can be practiced various sports, such as windsurfing, swimming, parasailing but also hiking, mountain biking and climbing.

You can accommodate in the largest town of the island – San Pedro, which is a picturesque town with bungalow type establishments that offers both picturesque but incredibly beautiful landscapes.

The adventure begins in the Cayo district, where the fullness of activities seems to fascinate you instantly. Here you will visit the Hidden Valley or the Thousand Foo Fall – the tallest waterfall in Central America. Surrounded by tropical forests, waterfalls, fascinating limestone caves, numerous archaeological sites of great importance, the district is dedicated to lovers of beauty, art and culture.

Belize surprises your eyes and thoughts, especially when you roam into the jungle and suddenly notice the ruins of the ancient city, majestic made with the highest precision and the thought that the Mayans, had the most well developed calendar & the road network very well organized.

What is downright admirable is that locals care for the natural resources and make efforts for the preservation of flora and fauna, inventing various methods of recycling and keeping the environment intact.
